BAKO PENINSULA MASTER PLAN STUDY (2014-2030)

Project Background
Bako Peninsula is located within Kuching Division and approximately 40 kilometers from Kuching City Centre. The study area is under the jurisdiction of the City Hall of Kuching North (DBKU). The study area consists of several traditional villages and planned housing with a total of 3,166 units based on the site inventory carried out in September 2013.
Among the important areas located within Bako Peninsula are Bako National Park, Demak Laut Industrial Park, Senari Port, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sejingkat Power Plant, Assar Senari Independent Oil Terminal and several planned residential areas. The size of the study area as given by the state government of Sarawak is 8,229 hectare.
The proposals of the Bako Peninsula Master Plan would develop Bako Peninsula into a dynamic industrial town supported by flourishing communities and interconnected neighbourhoods with a fabric of interlaced unique cultures. The township is to be set within a healthy, safe, environments. Carrying out daily routines of living such as working, shopping, cycling and jogging as well as exchanging niceties with neighbours within the area would be safe and refreshing.
With opportunities offered by proposed industrial and commercial developments, Bako Peninsula will be a centre of opportunity for collaboration and innovation that would build a resilient community through entrepreneurial culture. As this thriving industrial town would be the core of a place of industry, nature, commerce and culture, a diversity of creative entrepreneurs, would be developing upon a model of partnerships with the new educational institutions, employers, community agencies and students to drive the economy of the peninsula through increase job opportunities which in the end result in to a better quality of life for all.
